Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has strongly criticized Anthony.

"Berbatov said he gets 'angry' every time he sees Anthony play for United, and if he can't overcome his current slump, he should 'leave the club,'" the UK's Daily Mail reported on April 25.

Anthony moved from Ajax to Manchester United ahead of the 2022-23 season. The transfer cost a whopping €100 million ($142.3 billion). Although not a proven resource in the "big leagues," United fans had high hopes for Anthony, who had excelled not only in the Dutch league but also in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

However, he did not disappoint. In 2022-23, United had a moderately successful season, finishing third in the Premier League (PL), runner-up in the FA Cup, and winning the Carabao Cup, but Anthony struggled to adapt to the English game, scoring just four goals and providing two assists in 25 league games.

This season has been even worse. In 17 PL matches, four UEFA Champions League (UCL) matches, and one English Football League Cup (EFL Cup) match to date, Anthony has failed to record a single attacking point, drawing criticism from many fans and soccer pundits. Berbatov said in the past, "It looks like coach Eric ten Hagh is putting his trust in Anthony. Anthony has to live up to his expectations. But right now, he's not doing it," while former Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Jenas labeled his defensive contributions "pathetic".

Anthony hasn't been able to overcome his slump so far in the second half of the season. Berbatov once again had some scathing criticism for him. "As a fan watching him, I'm angry," Berbatov said, according to the outlet. I don't want to compare him with anyone, because each player 토토 has a difficult spell. But if he can't overcome this situation, he should leave the team," Berbatov said.

"In some ways, I sympathize with him because he's obviously talented and I can see he's trying. But when he plays on the field, he looks angry and frustrated. He needs someone to tell him where to run, how to run, and when to pass the ball. If he can't find the answers himself, he needs a coach, a friend, or an agent to give him advice."
