College football is entering a new visual era as the 2026-27 season gets underway. While the focus will always remain on wins, losses and standout performances, fans will also notice a wide range of changes to uniforms, helmets, logos and playing fields. The opening weekend features several attractive matchups, including Clemson traveling to LSU and Notre Dame meeting Wisconsin at Lambeau Field. For gamers following the sport closely, CFB 27 Coins can be useful when building a more personalized experience around the teams and styles featured throughout the season.

Postseason Branding Gets a Small Refresh

The College Football Playoff is starting the new season with a refreshed visual identity. The changes are not dramatic, but they provide the postseason with a more polished appearance. The football-shaped logo now features a metallic gold gradient, while its rounded edges create a design that better complements the shape of the championship trophy. Another important adjustment is the increased prominence of the “CFP” abbreviation. The acronym has been incorporated into the updated branding alongside a new typeface. That design language will also appear on the championship patch associated with the title game scheduled for Jan. 25 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It is a relatively subtle change, but one that should be easy for attentive fans to recognize.

The Bowl Calendar Looks Different

There are also several changes waiting for fans once the regular season ends. The Military Bowl has secured Freedom Mortgage as its new sponsor through a three-year partnership, taking the place of GoBowling. The SDCCU Poinsettia Bowl is also returning after a ten-year absence, creating another opportunity for a postseason matchup. A new Puerto Rico Bowl will debut as well, adding another event to the growing bowl landscape. Not every previous event will remain, however. The GameAbove Sports Bowl and LA Bowl are no longer part of the schedule. In addition, the XBox Bowl has been renamed the Frisco Football Classic, while the Rate Bowl has taken the Cactus Bowl name. These changes give the postseason a mixture of returning traditions, new events and updated identities.

Commercial Logos Take Center Stage

Perhaps the most noticeable change will be found directly on player uniforms. Teams can now place as many as two commercial logos on their uniforms during regular-season contests. Conference championship games can feature one additional advertisement. These marks are in addition to the manufacturer logos already found on jerseys, meaning uniforms may become considerably busier than fans are accustomed to seeing. The NCAA is following a trend already established in professional sports. MLB, the NBA and NHL allow uniform advertisements, while the NFL continues to limit this practice largely to practice settings. College football is therefore moving further toward the commercial presentation already familiar to professional sports audiences.

A New Visual Identity for the Season

The expansion of advertising does not stop at jerseys. Corporate logos have been permitted on college football fields since schools received approval for the practice two years ago. Some programs have already taken advantage of that opportunity by placing multiple advertisements on their playing surfaces. When those field designs are combined with updated uniforms, helmets and postseason graphics, the 2026-27 season should provide plenty of visual changes. Fans recreating their favorite programs in CFB 27 may want to use College Football 27 Coins for sale options as part of their broader in-game plans. Whether watching real games or building virtual matchups, this season offers a noticeably different presentation from previous years.
