The Solar Warranty Nobody Reads Until Their System Underperforms
Here's a gap most solar inverter home owners don't see coming your panels are warrantied for 25-30 years, but the inverter keeping them running usually isn't — string inverters typically fail at 10-15 years, right in the middle of your system's life. Microinverters push closer to 20-25 years since the failure risk is spread across many small units instead of one central point. Heat and poor ventilation are the biggest accelerants, so an inverter mounted in direct sun or a poorly vented space will wear out faster than the spec sheet suggests. If your system's output drops with no shading or dirty panels in sight, the inverter is usually the first thing worth checking, not the panels.
