There is a spot in California driving directions where you can jump from a bridge while attached to a massive rubber band. Just 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles, this so-called Bridge to Nowhere was revived as a permanent bungee-jumping facility in 1989. It costs $99 for a single leap in a complete body suit and an additional $50 for each subsequent jump.

If you want to travel fast along hundreds and miles of sand dunes, you don't even have to leave the country. Imperial Sand Dunes National Recreation Area in Arizona is a great place to do just that. All-terrain vehicles (ATVs) may be rented and driven on the sand dunes here. If you don't plan on bringing your own ATV to the dunes, you can always hire one from a company like Jet hire in Yuma.

There's nothing quite like skiing in a short sleeve shirt and shorts with the sun on your face and a new coating of snow. Timberline Lodge in Mount Hood, Oregon, has such a setting. The Palmer Snowfield is open to the public for skiing throughout the summer, however most of the mountain's summer skiing takes place at freestyle ski and racing camps from June to September.
