Sir Alex Ferguson said that he is satisfied with the draw against Sunderland, which played better than the Red Devils for most of the game. He praised the Manchester United defence for turning up a strong performance and keeping the clean sheet. The defence of Man Utd was made up of Van der Sar guarding the post, as well as Rafael da Silva, John OShea, Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand. All four away league matches played this season have ended up with a draw scoreline for Manchester United, but this is their first clean sheet. Surprise starts to owen and Macheda made the starting lineup somewhat surprising, with in-form Berbatov and Hernandez dropped to the bench. This match means that Sunderland have not won against Manchester United in 18 attempts, and Bruce could not get one over his former bo s in the 16 matches against his Rico Carty Jersey old club. The comments of Sir Alex were:We had to defend very well and the pleasing thing for me is that the back four were fantastic. The consistency of not losing is something we can take. I am not pleased but I am satisfied.Sunderland had the most chances in the game and I have to say we were fantastic defensively. Thats the area in which we have been leaking goals and throwing games away this season, so I am pleased with that. It was a very determined Sunderland team, their home record this season has been very, very good. Its a concern, the first three. I cant cla s todays as a disappointment because we had to battle to get the point today. But we have thrown the other three away.We had no attacking purpose in the first 25 minutes of the match. It wasnt until towards the end of the first half that we got any semblance of keeping po se sion of the ball. In the second half we did a lot better, there was more threat by us, but they had chances from set-pieces.You can read the match report of Sunderland vs Manchester United (0-0) by clicking here.
