FromSoftware's 2022 Game of the Year-winning Elden Ring requires an immense number of runes for you to explore its expansive open world, level up your Tarnished, equip powerful weapons and magic, and stand a chance against its most fearsome foes.

Level Up

Elden Ring allows players to increase their strength by leveling up, which grants access to additional player attributes that increase both damage output and resilience against damage.

Attacking enemies and defeating bosses earns players buy runes elden ring that can be spent to enhance individual Attributes. Vigor and Endurance should be prioritized early as these can significantly increase survivability; Dexterity should be kept in mind for melee builds that depend on weapons for damage output.

Once players have amassed enough Runes, Melina will appear at Gatefront Ruins Site of Grace to offer assistance in powering up further and levelling up. Accepting her offer unlocks further leveling capabilities across any Site of Grace in future games.

Upgrade Your Weapons

Weapons are your greatest ally when fighting the violent enemies you find in the Lands Between, providing your best protection. Raising your character level won't go as far as necessary as more powerful weapons are needed for defeating tougher areas on the map.

Upgrading weapons requires Smithing Stones, earned both through enemy drops and direct purchases. You can then spend them to upgrade weapons with passive and active power-ups designed specifically to fight specific enemies or bosses more effectively.

At both the Church of Elleh and Roundtable Hold, regular and unique weapons can be upgraded. However, for special weapons you'll require Master Hewg. Upgrade options for Keen upgrades improve dexterity scaling; Quality upgrades increase strength and base damage.

Boost Your Attributes

Runes in Elden Ring serve as the equivalent to Souls in FromSoftware games; these act as currency for upgrading attributes and earning experience points. When visiting Sites of Grace (similar to bonfires), all health is restored and it opens the ability to spend Runes on improving character stats.

Once you allocate points to an attribute, its stat will increase permanently; however, later in the game players may come across rare Larval Tears which allow them to redistribute previously assigned attribute points.

Enhancing certain stats like Vigor (which affects maximum HP) and Endurance (which increases stamina), can make the game simpler by increasing your resilience against damage or allowing faster running speed without fatigue setting in. But be warned; even with well-levelled characters some late game areas and bosses still present an immense challenge!

Upgrade Your Gear

Elden ring runes are the main currency in Elden Ring and can be used to upgrade weapons and equipment. Runes can be obtained from enemies and mainline bosses and utilizing them can significantly boost Tarnished's score.

Players seeking to locate Blacksmith Hewg can do so at Roundtable Hold, an independent location outside the main Lands Between that can be reached through one of several Sites of Grace located around the world.

Leveling up is key, but so too is upgrading their weaponry. Doing so allows your character to dish out more damage while taking in less. While this process can be stressful, remember that when allocating Attribute points, the change will remain permanent.

Purchase Items

Players in Elden Ring can use Runes to purchase items that make their characters stronger and more desirable, including weapons, armor and consumables. Weapons are useful in inflicting damage against enemies and bosses while armor offers protection from physical and elemental attacks.

Elden Ring items can help accelerate character upgrades and enrich the player's experience, as well as unlocking new areas. Equipment, weapons and accessories also give access to additional areas.

FromSoftware games are notorious for being complex, and often require players to dedicate a great deal of time in order to understand their intricate systems. This can be frustrating for anyone struggling to level up or already having invested a substantial amount into the game - Dark Souls and Bloodborne have proven this point time after time.
