Extra 300 Airplane: How It All Began?  

Once Walter had set Extra 300 to paper, he refined his designs and began manufacturing competition-winning aircraft. In 1988, he produced what is now known as the 300 series. It had a two-seat incarnation of the parent EA-300, whose steel fuselage was covered in aluminum, fabric, and carbon fiber wing spares to minimize the weight of the aircraft. 

It has a six-cylinder Lycoming AEIO 540 powerplant rated at 300 horsepower. With more and more development, carbon fiber materials were used lavishly to limit the weight of the powerplants without causing any problems in the structural integrity of the aircraft.  

Different Variants of Extra 300 Aerobatic Airplane  

Once the first variant of the Extra 300 plane series (the original two-seat 300 and single-seat 300S) was successful, a few new variants were introduced:  

Extra 300L   

The Extra 300L is a low-wing variant of this two-seater aircraft that is specially designed for unlimited level of aerobatics at minus 10Gs or plus. It offers improved visibility and comfortable front cockpit.   

Extra 300 SR   

It is a modified aircraft that is designed using high-lift wing for the Red Bull Air Race World Series. It incorporates several key modifications to enhance its performance in the high-speed, low-altitude racing environment.
