Manchester United's Incoming Manager Ruben Amorim Sets Sights on Sporting Trio, Including Pedro Goncalves

Ruben Amorim, the likely candidate to take over as Manchester United manager, has reportedly requested the acquisition of key Sporting CP players, with Pedro Goncalves, Goncalo Inacio, and Marcus Edwards as his top targets.
On October 30 (KST), British media outlet TeamTalk reported, “Amorim has begun identifying potential transfer targets, expressing a desire to bring three Sporting players to United.” The report states that Amorim has already communicated his wish list to the Manchester United board, which includes Goncalves, Inacio, and Edwards.
United's owner, Jim Ratcliffe, recently dismissed Erik ten Hag and swiftly approached Amorim as his successor. The personal terms between Amorim and United have reportedly been finalized, signaling that his appointment is close, with the move pending only final negotiations on compensation between the clubs. Once settled, Amorim is expected to make his way to Old Trafford.
As he nears his arrival, Amorim is keen to fortify United’s squad by bringing in players he has worked closely with at Sporting. Known for his tactical acumen, Amorim views Goncalves as a vital component to revive United’s lackluster attack. Goncalves, an established Portuguese international, has been a consistent performer for Sporting, recording 81 goals and 56 assists in 187 appearances. Primarily deployed on the left wing, Goncalves combines finishing ability with excellent dribbling and passing, often drawing comparisons to his Sporting predecessor and current United captain, Bruno Fernandes.
Despite Amorim’s interest, Sporting CP has made it clear that they are unwilling to part with Goncalves mid-season. The forward remains central to Sporting’s offensive structure, and Transfermarkt estimates his value at around €32 million (approximately 47.8 billion won). Sporting, however, is expected to demand a higher fee to consider any transfer, especially given Goncalves’ importance to the team.
“Goncalves is perhaps the most challenging of Amorim’s requested players to acquire,” TeamTalk notes. “As a pivotal figure at Sporting, the club would only consider a move for a substantial fee. While Goncalves and Amorim share a strong rapport, securing his transfer to United could prove difficult. Yet, Amorim is clearly aiming for comprehensive reinforcements to strengthen United’s squad.”
Notably, Amorim is not particularly interested in pursuing Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, as United already boasts forwards like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Gyokeres has attracted attention from top European clubs, including Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, but Amorim has deemed other areas of the squad a higher priority.
As Amorim’s plans for United take shape, fans are eager to see if United can secure his preferred Sporting recruits in the upcoming transfer window, with some even keeping an eye on 토토사이트 순위 for insights into possible transfer moves.
